Pakistan has 5 peaks over 8000 meters: K2, Broad Peak, Nanga Parbat, Gasherbrum I and II. It also has over 160 peaks over 7000 meters that include Masherbrum, Tirich Mir, Haramosh, Diran, Rakaposhi, Spantik (Golden Peak), the Ogre (Baintha Brakk), the Latok Group, The Ultar Group , Chogolisa and Baltoro Kangri, G4, Mustagh Tower, The Golden Throne, and others.  All these famous 8000 meter and 7000 meter peaks have been climbed and from several different routes. The challenge now are the more obscure peaks in 6000 meter to 7000 meter range. Recently the Ministry of Tourism has declared that all peaks under 6500 meters (21,450 feet) are now 'Trekking Peaks' which means that now matter what the technicality, the permit fees for such peaks is only $50.

Its these peaks that are in the 6000-7000 meter range that we survey the Karakoram and Greater Himalaya for. Given below is a small selection of mostly unnamed unclimbed peaks.
